"I started with portrait drawing, copying people from photos in an attempt to learn the art of realism, specifically portraiture. In a sense, that goal was achieved and I can now draw portraits substantially well. However it was also during that time that I noticed that I was naturally leaning more towards a cartoon style of drawing/illustration, which, at first, I hated, because it didn't fit in with my personal goal of realism. However, eventually, I accepted it, and since then have been striving to better myself in a more comic/cartoon style of artwork and illustration, taking onboard the skills I learnt during my "Portraiture Period", such as shading, use of colour, anatomy etc."
"In a nutshell, the art I create is primarily for my own personal enjoyment, and only recently have I begun to consider the possiblity that others too might enjoy my work, and attempted various successful commissions and sales. Unless you count the compulsory "art lessons" at school, I never really have received any formal art training. However, I first discovered my love for art during my pre-GCSE years at secondary school.
